Political Economy: 3, 3.5, and 4 Year Degree Pathways
Follow the link below for examples for 3, 3.5 and 4 year Political Economy academic plans. Note: Though it is technically possible to complete the Political Economy major in less than four years, the IAS faculty and advisors do not recommend it, as many required courses are challenging for students. Taking these courses concurrently may be more work than students can take on and do well. If you want to graduate in less than four years, please meet with an IAS advisor before taking on one of these courses of study.

Requesting Course Credit
DeCal Courses in IAS
So, you want to create a DeCal course and offer it through the IAS Department? Great! Getting a DeCal approved through IAS requires several steps which must be completed accurately and on time.
A complete DeCal Course Proposal must reach an IAS advisor, in 101 Stephens by:
- November 1st, for a DeCal offered for the Spring semester
- March 30th, for a DeCal offered for the Fall semester
Begin by reading our current policy on the sponsorship of DeCal courses (listed below). Please note that IAS policies and deadlines may differ from those of other campus departments and from the DeCal website and office personnel. SO, please – read the info below so that you stand the best chance of putting together a fun and successful course, while also making sure that the course gets approved so you can actually teach it!
