Lecturer Devin Leigh

Devin Leigh is a scholar of the early-modern Atlantic World whose research focuses on connections between the Caribbean, West Africa, and Great Britain in the eighteenth century. His scholarship has appeared in numerous academic journals, most recently The CLR James Journal, Eighteenth-Century Studies, and the Journal of Caribbean History. He received his BA in History and African Studies from DePaul University Chicago, his MA in History from Loyola University Chicago, and his PhD in History from the University of California, Davis. He has been teaching Global Studies courses at UC Berkeley since Fall 2022 as part of the Interdisciplinary Social Science Programs, the Fall Program for First Semester, and Summer Sessions. He most commonly teaches “Global 10B: Critical Issues in Global Studies,” “Global 45: Survey in World History,” and "Global 102: Critical Thinking in Global Studies." When not working or spending time with his family, his favorite pastimes include running, playing chess, and watching the San Francisco 49ers.
