Eligibility to Declare the Major
You are eligible to declare the Global Studies major if you have met ALL of the following criteria:
- Completion of the online Major Declaration Workshop.
- Completion of the Global Studies Major Declaration Form.
- Earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Completion of GLOBAL 10A with a grade of C or better (C- does not satisfy this requirement). Note: GLOBAL 10A may be repeated only once to achieve a grade of C or better.
- Completion of GLOBAL 45 (IAS 45) with a grade of B- or better on the first attempt. An AP score of 5 on the World History exam will satisfy this requirement (if taken on or before July 1, 2018).
- Completion of one additional lower division non-language requirement: Global 10B; Econ 1 or 2; STAT 2, C8, 20, 21 or W21.
Students are encouraged – but not required – to complete two semesters of college-level foreign language or the equivalent before applying to the major.
